Civil and structural engineers T & G Limited has appointed Sara Devitt as managing director as part of its recent management restructuring.
Sara takes over from Ian Bashforth who becomes Chairman of the T & G Group of companies and will now have specific responsibility for developing potential new markets.
She began her career with Ove Arup & Partners in London where, among other prestigious projects, she was a member of the team employed on the redevelopment and refurbishment of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
During her 11 years with Ove Arup, Sara also worked on large capital projects and high rise developments in Hong Kong and Ireland and was the lead engineer on the five-storey Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin and numerous industrial and ‘top spec’ office buildings along the banks of the River Liffey, some of which were developed on remediated land from a former gas works.
She then set up her own practice, which she ran successfully for a number of years, before moving to Jersey. A former secretary of the Republic of Ireland branch and council member of the Institution of Structural Engineers during the country's construction boom, Sara also sat on the Building Regulations Advisory Board for five years.
She joined T & G Limited as associate director in late 2008, becoming a shareholding director in 2010. A qualified SER certifier, she has since overseen/managed a number of luxury and high end residential projects in Jersey, including Les Relais des Mielles in St Ouen, Le Couperon development at Rozel, a mixed use development in Halkett Place and The Atrium in St Brelade.
T & G Group chairman Ian Bashforth said the recruitment of Sara and fellow director Jonathan Moffett in recent years and their subsequent appointment to the board of T & G Limited had been key to securing the future growth and development of the business.
“I am confident that Sara’s extensive knowledge and experience, allied to her commercial acumen, attention to detail and personable approach, will ensure that both the company and the T & G Group continue to go from strength to strength,” he added.
